Yana is an associate in our commercial litigation department. Her practice focuses on high-value, complex commercial disputes, and arbitrations. She has experience with shareholder and contractual disputes, as well as insolvency proceedings

Notable Experience

  • Acted for the claimant bank in a €400 million loan repayment claim before  the Commercial Court arising out of a €4 billion real-estate transaction in Spain 
  • Represented the claimant in LMAA, LCIA and ICC arbitrations in complex commodities disputes valued £5 – £25 million 
  • Acted for the claimant in a US$15 million SIAC arbitration concerning a joint-venture  oil development in Indonesia
  • Representing the claimant in a Commercial Court shareholder dispute  involving global allegations of fraud and asset mismanagement
  • Represented the respondent to an injunction concerning the alleged misuse of confidential information 
  • Acted for the respondent in opposing a High Court winding-up petition brought by a shareholder and former director against a recruitment sourcing company

Background

Raised in Latin America, Yana went on to study law and international relations at Amsterdam University College, where she graduated cum laude. She holds an LLM in Law and Economics through the European Master of Law and Economics at the University of Hamburg, Erasmus University Rotterdam, and the University of Haifa. She completed the Graduate Diploma in Law at University of Law in Bristol and Legal Practice Course at BPP in London.

Before commencing her training contract at a West End firm in 2021, Yana was a product manager at a technology and logistics start-up in London. Yana joined PCB Byrne on qualification in 2023. She is a member of the London Solicitors Litigation Association, Young Fraud Lawyers Association and the Female Fraud Forum.

Yana speaks German, Spanish and Portuguese fluently.
