A dual-qualified solicitor (England and Wales) and attorney (New York), Harley has acted in claims in both jurisdictions for high net worth individuals, private and public companies, public institutions and sovereign states.

Notable Experience

• Acting for a claimant American beverage supplier in a breach of contract claim governed by New York law in the London Court of International Arbitration.
• Acting for a claimant Russian oil company in a USD 300 million fraud claim in the Commercial Court. The twelve-week trial was the longest remote trial in Commercial Court history.
• Acting for a defendant multinational pharmaceutical corporation in the High Court and Court of Appeal. This case was included in the The Lawyer's annual Top 20 Cases list.
• Acting for a defendant sovereign nation in an EUR 70 million debt claim in the Commercial Court.
• Acting for a claimant Saudi oil company in a complex commercial arbitration in the Singapore International Arbitration Centre.
• Acting for a group of core participants to a high-profile public inquiry.

Background

Harley has practised litigation at boutique, international and US law firms. Before entering practice, Harley was a Fellow at a justice system think-tank. He holds an LLB from Dundee Law School at the University of Dundee.
