PCB Byrne recognised by The Times Best Law Firms 2026

The Times has recognised PCB Byrne for the fifth year as one of the best law firms in England and Wales, commending it for commercial dispute resolution; financial crime & fraud & regulatory.

It’s noted that PCB Byrne successfully represented Banco de Sabadell, one of Spain’s largest retail banks, in High Court proceedings against Cerberus, the US asset management group, over deferred-payment mechanisms in the purchase of real estate portfolios in Spain. The court awarded €405 million including interest, rejecting Cerberus’s contractual arguments under Spanish law. The Court of Appeal later refused permission to appeal.

The firm acts for Kenneth Alexander, the former chief executive of Entain, the global gambling and sports-betting group, who denies charges of conspiracy to bribe and commit fraud between 2011 and 2018. The prosecution concerns £150 million generated from Entain’s former online gaming operations in Turkey, alleging that Alexander and others conspired to defraud financial institutions and compliance authorities by concealing the source of gambling revenues.

Its lawyers also discharged a multimillion-pound worldwide freezing order in a dispute linked to arbitration proceedings, after identifying a procedural defect in how the order had been served.
