PCB Byrne has successfully settled all claims against its clients in the now ubiquitous SKAT litigation, a £1.44 billion set of Commercial Court proceedings commenced by Skatterforvaltningen (the Danish tax authority) in 2016.

The proceedings are brought against more than 100 defendants and concern what is said to be a massive fraudulent scheme, involving the submission of false tax rebate claims. The case is among the largest ever to come before the Commercial Court and the subject of a one-year trial, which is currently part-heard.

PCB Byrne acted for an executive formerly linked to the Solo Capital group and associated companies. The team working on the matter was led by partner Ben Davies, with support from senior associates Marie Smale and Alice Roberts. Counsel were Keir Howie and Julia Gibbon of 7KBW.
