Elizabeth is an experienced commercial litigator specialising in high-value, complex claims and asset recovery. Acting for both claimants and defendants, she has particular expertise in civil fraud litigation and shareholder disputes, often with multi-jurisdictional aspects.

Elizabeth speaks at conferences on fraud and litigation issues, and she is on the executive committee of the European lawyers’ association VOCAL (Victims of Crime Association of Lawyers).

Notable experience

Obtaining judgment for investors in relation to a series of property development frauds. This followed a successful application for freezing and tracing orders against 14 respondents including nominees of the key defendants.
Representing shareholders in a complex joint venture dispute involving criminal and commercial litigation.
Advising in multi-jurisdictional asset forfeiture proceedings involving claims exceeding $400 million.
Defending a $300 million claim in relation to a purported fraud in the oil industry.
Acting for office holders in relation to the investigation and protection of assets.
Defending the investment fund manager against claims of breach of fiduciary duty and negligence of $100 million.

Background

Elizabeth trained and practiced at Dechert LLP until joining Byrne and Partners LLP. She graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with high honors and then studied at the College of Law, London.
