Christian is a non-practising Barrister that joined the criminal team as a paralegal in September 2014 and, after completing the accelerated LPC, retuned as a trainee.

In that time, he has gained experience across the criminal team’s core practice areas of fraud, confiscation and extradition. He has worked on high-profile, complex financial cases and assists clients facing multi-million-pound fraud investigations and prosecutions. He also assists in cases involving regulatory offences and civil fraud, confiscation proceedings and general crime.

He has in-depth knowledge of e-discovery platforms, a keen eye for disclosure reviews and a working knowledge of police procedure.

Notable experience
  • Greek State Prosecution – Assisting in the defence of a former senior executive of a major multinational company charged in Greece with bribery, fraud and money laundering offences exceeding €11 million.
  • Operation Amazon: Confiscation – Assisting in the opposition of the confiscation proceeding of Operation Amazon, which include complex multi-jurisdictional company and trusts structures.
  • Harbour Fund II – Assisting a litigation funder in the Orb dispute. This is one of the largest cases by party before the Commercial Court at present, with over 20 parties making claims to assets worth in excess of £150 million held in various jurisdictions.
  • Harbour Fund III – Assisting a major litigation funder, in respect of the enforcement of a Commercial Court judgment worth in excess of US$300 million. The case involves complex, cross-border issues in relation to the recovery and preservation of assets.
  • Operation UR – Assisted in the successful defence of the director of a multinational company charged with bribery and corruption offence by the SFO.
  • Operation Amazon – Assisted in the defence of a Carbon Credit Scheme prosecution, brought by HMRC, with alleged intended losses of £107 million in sideways tax loss relief.
  • Barclays – LIBOR 3 – Assisted in the defence of the Barclays employee charged with the manipulation of the London Inter Bank Offer Rate (LIBOR).
  • ICAP – LIBOR 2 – Assisted in the successful defence of the ICAP brokers charged with LIBOR manipulation, working closely with Queens Counsel to produce a substantial spreadsheet that would later be adopted by the court.
  • European Court of Human Rights – Assisted on an appeal to the European Court of Human Rights pertaining to human rights violations by the Greek State concerning their criminal justice system.
  • Extradition – Assisted on the successful challenge of extradition proceedings by Belgium on the grounds of Double Jeopardy and other violations of ECHR articles.
  • Operation Steamroller – Assisted in the Confiscation order of almost £8 million under POCA 2002 following a US$108 million boiler room fraud, the largest ever pursued by a UK authority, brought by the SFO.
  • Weavering Capital UK – Assisted in the defence of the UK’s largest hedge fund fraud prosecution, US$640 million, brought by the SFO. Involving complex trading strategies of interest rate swaps, with charges of fraud by abuse of position, fraudulent trading, false accounting and forgery.
  • Mobile Homes Case Preparation & Settlement - Christian assisted to draft and enforce a multi-million-pound settlement as well as to prepare the case for trial if the negotiations and the settlement were not successful.
Christian graduated from Kingston University with an LLB honours degree. He went on to complete the Bar Vocational Course and was called to the Bar of England and Wales. He is currently a non-practising Barrister with a Masters in Law with Commendations. Christian cross qualified by completing the accelerated LPC course and obtained a Commendation. He is a member of the Inner Temple Inns of Court, Criminal Bar Association and the Young Fraud Lawyers Association.
