Charles is a criminal litigation lawyer with experience in white collar defence and investigations.

He has expertise in representing both organisations and individuals on internal investigations, multi-jurisdictional investigations, and prosecutions by authorities (including the Serious Fraud Office, HMRC, Parquet National Financier, and US regulators). During his training, Charles also spent time seconded to the litigation and investigations team at aircraft manufacturer, Airbus.

 

Notable experience
  • Acting for Airbus S.E. in a global investigation into allegations of fraud, bribery and corruption, and the subsequent €3.6bn settlements with the SFO, PNF, US DOJ, and DOS.
  • Working in the team advising on the preliminary stages of an independent investigation into the FCA’s supervision of London Capital & Finance plc.
  • Acting for a senior executive in relation to a UK authority investigation regarding allegations including money laundering and bribery.
Background
Charles studied law at the University of York, graduating in 2017, before completing the LPC at BPP Law School in London. After training at Dechert LLP, he joined Byrne and Partners LLP on qualification in September 2020. Charles is a member of the Young Fraud Lawyers Association.
